University Of Kansas Conference Championship "Hype Kit"

This is fan art and was not officially sanctioned by The University of Kansas or the Big XII. All photos are borrowed from the University of Kansas' online publications. This is a little "hype kit" I put together for my friends on social media. I created it in honor of The University of Kansas Men's Basketball Team clinching its 12th straight Big XII regular season championship (what a mouth full).

After compiling a collage of photos from the current season (2016), I used Photoshop to make them black and white, as well as to give them a blue-gray tint layer. The basic idea was to make it appear as if this could be an official BIG XII press release item and then have it glitch into being the BIG KU Conference (in honor of Kansas' 12 years of dominance). I used an effect found in After Effects to create the background flicker as well as Key Frames to create the simple transformation animation from "XII" to "KU".
For the logo I used the Big 12 press kit to get an idea of their style guidelines (full disclosure I broke a few guidelines...but hey, its fan art). For the base Big XII logo I simply traced the existing art and created my own vector version in Adobe Illustrator. I was careful to match all style guide colors throughout the process.
I then duplicated my vector copy and made minor adjustments to turn the 'XII' into a 'KU'. I also removed and replaced the number 12 below and replaced it with the official modified trajan KU logo.
For the social media banner I simple used Photoshop to cut out a portion of the background in various photos so that they could seamlessly overlap. I chose photos for my collage that I felt best represented the 2016 Kansas Basketball season up to that point. I then used Illustrator to add filters similar to those found in the Big XII media style guide, as well as the "Rock XII Chalk" banner across the center. Finally I added Big Jay, KU's mascot, on the bottom for a splash of color. I also wanted him to overlap the banner a bit for visual interest, but I was careful not to overlap the Big XII log which is against the Big XII's style guide rules. My goal was to give the appearance that this was an officially sanctioned piece of art.
